Hi, I've decided to document some of my experiences in a new blog.
This will serve as a memory box for me and give an insight into what I do. Hopefully it will be interesting and provide inspiration (musical or otherwise) for those who have recently found themselves engaged, or are soon to be wed.
I'll be snapshotting some of the many beautiful, personal and varied weddings I provide music for each year - with special mentions to anything I find noteworthy, exciting or that I've not seen before :)
January 29th 2016
- Michelle & David's Wedding -
The Woodman Inn, Kirkburton - Iconic 18th Century country inn, in a beautiful Yorkshire Hamlet.
I played Ceremony & Drinks Reception Piano (on the venue's fantastic grand piano), then DJ'd for the Evening Reception until the small hours.
Musical Choices for James to play on the piano -
Bride's Arrival - Toothpaste Kisses (Maccabees), Register signing - F*** Her Gently (Tenacious D), This Year's Love (David Gray), Exit as Newly-Weds - Stereo Hearts (Gym Class Heroes).
Musical Choices for Evening Reception/ James' DJ Service
1st Dance - Like A Rose (A1)
Lots of requests for 90s Cheese, current pop, dance. One lady in particular asked for Saturday Night (Whigfield) and The Time Warp at least 10 times ;)
Gorgeous intimate wedding of around 40 guests. Very relaxed atmosphere, guests having fun and making merry at the perfect venue.
Tenacious D - The groom's novelty choice of song for register signing had certain guests laughing or shaking their heads in disbelief
Emotional & Beautiful bride - Lots of happy tears and I'm pretty sure I saw the high heels replaced by white converse later on in the day for dancing purposes :)
